How to Use the Nidorf Course to Improve Your Game

Trying to understand just the idea behind the opening and where am I basically trying to get? And what is my strategy? That's so much more important to me than playing through the master games. So I've had not great success. I don't think my game's improved. The way I started trying to use it was like, okay, I play the Nidorf. But they go still so in depth is just trying to memorize all those lines to me. It may be at a grandmaster level, but for me, that doesn't work.
