The Complexity of Complex Societies and Empires

We are currently, it seems, at the limits of the complexity that the american system can manage. The level of crossover between the two parties is considerably less than it was 50 or 60 years ago. There's really very little understanding how people ow, reasonable people can't disagree on matters of national politics. People aren't thinking rationally about these of decisions.
