I recently watched Tucker Carlson interview Elon Musk about whether the US government is covering up the already known existence of extraterrestrial life. The better answer was given what we know about the US military and their primary concern is to raise their budget. So long before anyone had come to a consensus that a signal from space was artificial, every astronomer on the planet would know about it and we're terrible at keeping secrets.
