The Importance of Elomarna in the Late Bronze Age
Elomarna dates to the middle of the 14th century BC. It was occupied for only a very brief period of time, and therefore everything that's dug up in that city has to date to that short period. Jerusalem is basically like a little city state ruled by this sort of minor chief, you know, Abdi Hepa. The Israelite tribes settled all around the area of Jerusalem. But according to the biblical account, it wasn't until 200 years later when David becomes able to take it over.
