The Importance of Mercy in Hell
If every soul in hell was crying out to God for grace, why would he not got granted? If Jesus is a God of love who went to the cross to take the torment for our sins and die for us, why wouldn't he extend grace to them as well? This is what I believe 1 Peter 4, 6 is talking about when it says, even the gospel was preached to those that are dead. So if your scenario is right, then yes, I would be universalist. My pushback is I just don't think that's how simple human psychology is. And unfortunately, many of us prefer this story where we're the hero, or the king of the self center.
