The doctrine was first put out by a council that met in the years 1618 through 1619 called the Senate of Dirt. Righteousness is thereby imputed to man. It's not imparted to man. Man does not become good, as we have seen in the swaggered case. The new nature which is imputed to him is the nature of total innocence.
