I think the thing that makes me uncomfortable is just having a heater on when i'm not in the room. I've two search protectors, each have five individual plugs and two usb plugs. You can control both us bs and the five plugs separately. A dimmers our big one for us, especially a three way dimmers. That is something that was not possible with old dumb switches.
