The History of Linguistics

There's things in English spelling that have occurred not because of historical weirdness, but because of people having wrong etymologies and changing spellings. There are a few language families that have been well investigated in historical terms. I get the feeling that Austronesian has had a lot of work yet, but I don't know if they have how robust a work is yet. Think about if you want to add clicks, research click a genesis. Is that what it's called? Because there are some theories as to how clicks can come about. Those kinds of things.
