The Evolution of Gay Rights and Gay Marriage

In the wake of World War II, what did you have? You had all these black servicemen coming home from Europe where they had just fought a war against a regime dedicated to the proposition of racial purity. From that moment forward, you get a brand new kind of politics because of the shift in population. And then the thing that's in almost all of our shared experience now is the idea of gay rights and gay marriage. We came to the conclusion that that was a correct assertion long before anything manifested in the law. Anybody who remembers the march towards universal gay marriage knows that that was over by the time we came to decide it.
