Adolescence is learning to the common autonomous adult making your own autonomous decisions. There will be some kind of evolutionary adaptive drive for autonomy wanting to not just do what your parents and teachers tell you but making your own decision. Young people don't have as much autonomy as they want when it comes to school, study or exams. It causes a lot of friction between young people and their and the adults in their lives sometimesbut it is a really important part of growing up.
