The Importance of Baptism

Baptism is a public declaration of an faith, but there have been instances where it was necessary to baptize people. I feel wildly uncomfortable personally with rebaptizing Christians. And the reason that my reason is actually more historical than anything else. That Jesus only works as long as I'm the one doing the baptism.
