The Tower of Babel

Baptism is not a washing away of dirt, but it's an appeal to God for a good conscience. When we are united to him by faith, we are symbolically united with him in his death and resurrection so that we are submerged in the floodwaters of God's wrath against the sinned people. And then Jesus says, I have a baptism to undergo. That's a wonderful place to end. Amen.
