Artificial Intelligence and Sentience

We've got to a point where we can really simulate compassion. They are just machines that know how to use words but they can't feel our hurt. If you and I were having a conversation as mates and you were really upset about something I would feel your pain and your sadness and I would respond accordingly. But what the AI companions do is they would give that same response and the impression of compassion but actually it's just a bunch of computer code and they don't give a toss.
