In the 19 sixties, two thirds of the planet was living in a country that identified as socialist. The agreement made between capital and labor to stave off revolution was, cansianism will allow labor some room for operation,. But it's still going to be a managed capitalism with bourgeoisie running society. And then, of course, the us went and destroying every single country that maintained some kind of socialistic policies.
