The Kaiser's No to the Franco-German War
Admiral Turpitz capitalized on public outrage to submit a new naval bill for six large ships. The Kaiser called his Chancellor a coward and reminded him that he should reckon with political providence. This crisis had some unintended, well, obviously unintended, but some serious consequences. One of the biggest consequences was that Italy watching from the sidelines was encouraged to launch their own colonial venture.
