Six of the 25 most popular commercial educational applications that are identified as being maths do not include any maths content. Only one of the apps in the top 25 has actually been empirically evaluated and that's 1 billion maths four to six. There is some good evidence there to show that with a well-designed app improved learning outcomes but you need to use them in a particular sort of way.
