I think the lasting images from the protests already will go down in history. The mere existence, I think, is quite an affront to the party's legitimacy. This has been really a mistake of centralization of power around Xi and identifying him with the policy. Now, there'd be a lot more flexibility in Chinese policy making at the regional or agency level.
