The Origins of Web Based Software
The company was called VIA Web because the software worked via the web. At the time, browsers were considered to be just something for consuming stuff on a server. The very first version of Vueb, the store generator, ran on a server on Unix. And so we already had a website generator running on Unix. That was why we thought of making it work as a Web app.
