Lincoln and Douglas's Friendship Made a Certain Kind of Sense
In 18 63, douglas showed up unannounced at the white house. He was immediately invited in for a meeting with lincoln. After this first meeting, l Lincoln called on douglas several more times throughout his presidency. Their last meeting was at lincoln's second inaugural address. There is no man in these united states whose opinion i value more than yours says Douglas.
