Pilate's Moral Obligation to Free Jesus
Pilate knew that Jesus was innocent and he should have let him go. He didn't because he wants to be liked. If you can't be right and liked and you try to compromise, it's going to blow out of control. The wrong thing to do is to put an innocent man to death. But what if Pilate knew Herod has already executed a guy who is a Jew, a religious leader? And so if he knew this, maybe he sends him to Herod in the hopes, hey, Herod, here's your second chance where you won't kill this guy.
