The West's Development Strategy for China
I don't think that what we should be doing is putting up a lot of money for white elephant projects that will never pay off or earn out. I think the west found a brilliant development strategy and in it is to the combination of free trade and free enterprise that allowed so many a non-communist Asian countries to develop and flourish. If India got back to having 65% of China's GDP not even parity but just where it was in 1980 China would face a very different picture in Asia. With an India that's cooking on all four cylinders that's really moving forward China's influence in Southeast Asia is going to be economically contested in a way.
