Detecting Blood Stains
The FBI laboratory is equipped to determine whether a sample is actual blood, but ERTs can't do that at a scene. Instead, they use one of two tools to get the presumptive result: phenyltheline or hemostics. No matter which test an ERT picks, the results help them determine whether or not they should collect a sample to send to the FBI lab.
