I'm personally way more satisfied by going up to something that doesn't have a lot of chalk on it or maybe has chalk on it, but I've like never heard of it before. Feeling like you're climbing well on something that initially feels really gross and nasty and uncomfortable is tremendously satisfying. That's what I love about climbing is that we can have both of those challenges totally and so many more totally. It could be both ways. They're both skills. Your climbing technique is a skill. Your flexibility is a skill and they have a high degree of overlap.
