Horatio Gates

Horatio gates was born in england in 17 28. As a young man, he bought an officer's commission and served on the continent before following his military mentor to canada. On the eve of the french and indian war, he was present on braddock's disastrous opening march. After the war, he didn't have the money to buy the higher rank that would allow him to remain in the rapidly demobilizing british regular army. And though he craved even more responsibility, he remained a few rungs down on the chain of command.
