The Great Revolt of Egypt

On a surface level, the Great Revolt appears like an uprising that pitted oppressed Egyptians against their Hellenic overlords. Some go so far as to even describe the revolt as the budding of Egyptian nationalism. Tensions between newly arrived Greeks and their Egyptian neighbors is a recurring theme in surviving petitions. Those who could achieve the legal status of Halim would be given special privileges when it came to taxes and social services. It is unlikely that there were any sort of ethnic or racial hierarchy in place akin to modern colonial empires.
