Alicia Shaw: I think part of my disagreement then is holding up this thing that people keep referring to, the modern synthesis. She says it's like evolutionary biology had the synthesis 50 years ago and nothing's happened ever since. Scott Turner: What's interesting about agential thinking is that if you think about how populations evolved, there's some kind of variation. There's a filter. And then some subset of that original variation makes it through that filter becomes the subsequent class we all say in our basic biology.
