Organo Phosphate Poisoning

Organo phosphate poisoning can be broken down into three clinical cindrums. Acute poisoning cases ar within the first six to 24 hours after exposure. Intermediate cindrum occurs in some patients with organo phosphate toxicity approximately one to five days after exposure. Symptoms include paralysis, decrease deep tendon reflexes, proximate muscle weakness and respiratory failure. Organo phosphate agent induced delayed neuropathy can also occur in the late stage. This is often slow and insidious, arising over the weeks following ingestion. It can include changes to your cognition and peripheral nervous systems. Many exposures are accidental, but intentional poisonings are a common cause of self harm in the developing world.
