Anthony Bourdain: I think our media environment rewards conflict driven super engaging things that piss you off. It doesn't open up for expansive thinking right it closes everything down, he says. And so it pushes you to those extremes political ideologies because we don't have room in our lives for expansive thinking and when we're stressed or struggling with something that we have little to no control over if there's a global pandemic for example. He says people are drawn to the siren song of hard line political ideologies but then they find their way back into healthy relationships.
