How to Fix a Hole in the Heart

There are three types of VSD's: AV valve, membranous and outlet. All involve a different kind of fixing involving closing a hole in the heart. A Dachron patch or something that is foreign material is used for ASD's but it doesn't grow with the patient so they don't reform. The second part of the operation is closing the AV valves, typically on the left side at the ventricle. That gives me much more respect for what they're doing to get these kids better.
