Fred Wilson, founder and partner of Union Square Ventures, wrote a blog post about what VCs can learn from private equity firms. His three principles: Private equity can't afford to lose money while venture capital requires it. In his worldview, he's looking at this as guys who are doing buyouts. Loss ratios and venture, on average, are going to be higher than private equity.
