There were predictions that the pandemic would lead to massive investment in automation technologies and robots. The short answer is that no, that didn't happen right and it didn't happen for many reasons. It's also just like in the pandemic, the future became really uncertain and getting robots does require massive investments.

Paris Marx is joined by Aaron Benanav to discuss OpenAI’s claims that generative AI will take our jobs, how previous periods of automation hype haven’t resulted in mass job loss, and why we need to ensure it doesn’t further empower employers.
