The main reason people learn jazz solos by year is to gain language or ideas, right? So what's likely is if you heard a specific concept that happened, like I mentioned before, an intervolic movement that you weren't used to. The next time you hear in a recording, the next time you learn a similar idea from a solo that you're working on, it can be magical how all of a sudden that concept that was foreign to you before is now coming to the forefront of your consciousness,. That's the practicing snowball. It's like today my solos might not be better, but over time, the exposure to the same thing will.
