Mike Prokes was a journalist for the San Francisco temple. He became convinced of Jim Jones's sincerity when he saw him help an elderly woman up some stairs, despite being late for his appointment. His conscience wouldn't allow him to continue selling information that might be used against jones and his organization. Mike told Jackson what he had seen in order to decide whether or not to tell anyone about it.
