The slide to the right is happening both to the left and to the right. The difficulty in kind of living in the modern world for both middle class white folks and middle class white men who aspire to aspire to middle classness. They are looking for a way to make meaning in their lives without the kind of economic resources that were kind of the bedrock of americans, of white American society in the 19 fifties and sixties. And then i think that leads us a little bit into a kind of thi second condition, which is this kind of outright inability to question the narrative or supreme knowledge that conditions that fundamental bbedrock.
