The Lebanese Government's Inability to Govern

Lebanese economy was a nationally regulated Ponzi scheme, and it came crashing down. The World Bank had warned the Lebanese government in November 2019 that if they didn't act, half the country could soon be living in poverty. Nearly half the population of 5 million Lebanese were below the poverty line before this disaster. Before the explosion, the Lebanese people were already on the brink. They were dealing with hyperinflation, government corruption, unemployment, a lack of basic services and scarcity.
