Request to Limit Trump's Public Statements

Special counsel Jack Smith has asked U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan to limit former President Trump’s public statements in the federal 2020 election interference case against him. A newly released court filing reveals that prosecutors want a court order limiting what the former president can say. Trump responded to the request by calling Smith “deranged.” Former federal prosecutor Elliot Williams tells Anderson Cooper how strong he thinks the special counsel’s argument is and if he thinks the judge will grant the request.
