In the second book, berger basically says, look, people, to be true to my discipline, i approached religion from a position of methodological atheism. But may i boldly proclaim that religion is no mere man made sacred canopy. It is a canopy created by the creat himself, given to placed in the heart of his children. There has never yet been a society that was purely clar it's only in our day that people are trying to create those. Even secular altruism does have some deep religious roots.
