The Importance of a Shared Metric in Marketing

The CMO should co-own the pipeline, goal qualified pipeline with the CRO. Marketing like why shouldn't be the ultimate owner of what their metric of what they're paid on is? I think it should be some shared metric inside the company and pipeline is the right one in my mind. CS is also a nebulous definition, right? Like you have some CS teams there to find as the team that do tech support documentation or things like that.
