Labor has spent $14.5 billion in new spending this term, compared to a fiscal plan of just $7.8 billion for the 2020 election. The party's record on public services is also at an all-time high with 77,000 kids lifted out of poverty and 12,000 new state houses built. Labor says it will make further hard choices as New Zealand navigates a deteriorating global environment. 'It's not going to be possible to make big promises,' Mr Fijian tells MailOnline.
