What Is a Creole Language?

Linguists who don't quite understand what a Creole language is. Why do you think it's so misunderstood? For us, I mean, obviously it's a language. It's a form of communication between members of a community which have a range of heritages. What we call Creole languages today came about during European colonization of Africa, Asia, and the Americas.
