Financial institutions are fighting to avoid the same fate by allocating 30 to 50% of their money into alternative assets like fine art. Masterworks has given over 500,000 people access to this largely uncorrelated asset. As recently as early October, Masterworks sold a painting for 21.5% net return to their investors.
