Standard notes is funded by its users. It's minimalist. It rejects smart features and complexity for the sake of it. These are all anathema to the current kind of Silicon Valley approach to software. You don't have to worry about data breaches, social engineering, coding mishaps or government intervention into standard note servers. This is an aspect of privacy that a lot of people don't really consider when you don't use encrypted platforms.
