The Role of Markets in Social Justice
I reject the notion that you have to imagine what a good society would be like without actually knowing your own position in that society. There was a line familiar from libertarian literature that went something like this: Market outcomes define social justice or just define distributive justice. But I reject that tradition and working solely with democratic tradition. And I'm interested in the idea that in fact markets can produce social justice, can satisfy that external standard of social justice.
