The Importance of Modeling Discontinuous Systems

This is one of several examples in the book where we do both. And that gives us a chance to show the strengths and weaknesses of analysis and computation. So that's why this is where it is in the book. It's the transition from the discrete systems in part one to the first order continuous systems.
