You have to be open to the other perspective, rightl you have to sort of want to see the world through the other person's eyes and disassociate that from, i have to agree with how they see the world. I think it's a little bit deeper than sort of just listening. Some of us approach the world as sceptics. Show me the evidence prove it. And even if you're not combative in tone, the way your mind works because of training, or culture, or all different kinds of background conditions is, i won't believe it until there's sufficient degrees of doubt. You kno, that's the way some people's minds work, especially in academia
