Is Hemochromatosis a Genetic Condition?

Hemochromatosis is not a zonal recessive condition and that it is variably penetrant. Not everyone in their family is going to end up with this disease. People with one copy of this genetic condition are not likely to present with any disease. If you've watched someone's ferritin go up, this is probably somebody with severely inflammatory liver disease.
