The History of the Summer of 1816

There was a very interesting event six years before in 1809. We know about it because we can find the same sulfur that's emitted in eruptions and goes up to the stratosphere. This eruption could well have been significant because it should also have been capable of forcing the global climate system. There's even an idea that the Little Ice Age might have been triggered by machine gun detonations of volcanoes in the mid-13th century.
