If you want to know god better, protect time with him. Paul prays that the ephesians would know god better. The hope of the scriptures isn't to escape to heaven, but to see heaven come to earth. This is what jesus calls the renewal of all things on earth. But sin caused separation between heaven and earth - this is christian hope.
