In Our Time
00:00
Introduction
In 597 Pope Gregory the Great ordered that a mission of monks be sent from Rome to reconvert Britain. Just over a hundred years later, the Lindisfar and Gospels were produced. Also Dr Michelle Brown, Curator of Illuminated Manuscripts at the British Library and Dr Richard Gamsen, Reader in Medieval History at Kent University.
