The Importance of Technology in Art Education
I try to give them a lot of examples of technologically mediated experiences or works that ultimately work to kind of like give you more access to something that's already there, like the physical world. One of my favorite moments as a teacher is when I had a student check out a microscope camera and he made an abstract film set to Fantasia. And then we watched it, like, wow, it's beautiful. What was that? And he was like, oh, that was my hair. He had been moving the camera around in his hair, like to this music, which is amazing in it, in and of itself. That's what I'm really trying to get across in that class.
